The American Legion Dorie Miller Post #915, Department of Illinois and the United States Postal Service hosted a reception to unveil the 2010 Distinguished Sailors Stamp series to the Post’s members and guests at the Richard L. Jones Armory in Chicago.

Donna L. Cooper is an LTC in the US Army and a Chicago City Court Judge. Cheryle Robinson Jackson is the 1st woman President of the Chicago Urban League and is a candidate for the U.S. Senate (D-IL). They were both honored at the 6th Veteran's Day Gala.

A program, provided once a year, and developed specifically to help eliminate many of the accidents associated yearly with Halloween. The Memorial Center will serve as a safe haven for trick or treaters and their families to gather on Halloween.

Dorie Miller Post 915 participated in the Annual Bud Billiken® Parade. The 80th Annual event was held on August 8, 2009. Members of other American Legion Third District Posts shared in the celebration along with their family members and children.

Dorie Miller Post #915 sponsored a deployment picnic for the 719th Medical Brigade on July 31, 2009 at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois.

Post members invited family and friends to join them in celebrating their 64th anniversary on Saturday, July 18, 2009. The event was held at the Jones Armory following the Post monthly meeting.

We changed our venue this year. We took our Annual Officer Appreciation Banquet to the Doubletree Hotel in Alsip. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of fine food and entertainment. A perfect way to end the Memorial Day weekend.

The American Legion Dorie Miller Post #915 participated in the Annual Chicago Memorial Day Parade, on Saturday, May 23, 2009. HUMMV’s were available for members to ride in for a comfortable and joyous celebration.

Our members came out in force to celebrate the life of Andrew J. Mosley, 3rd & 13th Commander of Post #915. Comrade Mosley was also a past 3rd District and 1st Division Commander for the Department of Il. Commander Mosley passed on March 14, 2009.

CVO hosted a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, April 18th, from 10 AM until Noon at the Montford Point Marine Association located at 7011 S. Vincennes in Chicago. Senator Roland Burris attended. (date on photos inaccurate)

This annual Veterans event took place at the Local Teamsters 705 on W. Jackson Street in Chicago. Cook County Board President Todd Stroger was among the many guests that attended. Post Chaplain Danny Eison is employed with the VAC of Cook County, IL.

Dorie Miller Post #915 assisted the HHC 1-178 INF Family Readiness Group with the deployment picnic and ceremony for 183 soldiers on August 22 and 23 2008. Illinois Governor Rod R. Blagojevich joined the group on Aug 23, 2008.

Dorie Miller Post 915, George L. Giles Post 87 and the Montford Point Marines Assoc., combine forces annually w/ the Illinois Department of Employment Security & Coyne American Institute to host a job fair for employers seeking to hire Military Veterans.

Our signature affair takes place each year on Nov 10th. In 2007, Mayor Richard Daley proclaimed Nov 10th as Dorie Miller Day in Chicago, in honor our work in the communities we represent. (Read how you can support this program on line).
